Startup Visa

The Startup Visa, under Article 89.4, is a streamlined way to move to Portugal with a team of colleagues based on a startup idea. It is designed to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship.

This visa is ideal for aspiring entrepreneurs and startup teams, even if they only have an idea rather than a fully functioning business. It facilitates a faster process for obtaining a residence permit in Portugal.

To qualify, founders must be over 18 years old, have no criminal record, reside outside of Schengen countries, have no tax debts, and show proof of more than €5,200 in their bank account. All team members (1-5 people) must have higher education.

Potential to achieve a turnover of more than €325,000 per year and/or assets worth more than €325,000 per year within five years after the incubation period.
